There is an excellent chapter on ESB architecture in the No Fluff, Just Stuff 2006 Anthology (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0977616665/sr=8-1/qid=1154996068/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-9863030-3540624?ie=UTF8). I think it is chapter 7. It goes over the basic terms and strategies. The book as a whole is pretty good.
